We teamed up with actor and LGBTQ+ advocate Brandon Flynn to celebrate Pride with purpose. Here’s what this partnership, Tropi-Queen, and G.L.I.T.S. mean to him.
Q: How did you first come across G.L.I.T.S., and what made them feel like the right organization to support for this Pride partnership?
A: I first heard about and encountered G.L.I.T.S. in 2020 during the historic Brooklyn Liberation March for Black Lives. It was a massive turnout and a space that became an astonishing container for grief, protest, and community. G.L.I.T.S. centers the most urgent concerns, like housing and healthcare.
Q: G.L.I.T.S. does powerful work around housing, direct support, and advocacy for Black trans women and LGBTQ+ communities. What part of that mission really connected with you?
A: The Black trans women part. We are reminded, almost daily, how the system refuses to protect our Black trans community; politics, religion, other organizations. The work that G.L.I.T.S. and Ceyenne Doroshow do is imperative to life.
Q: Pride is full of joy and celebration, but this partnership also gives back in a real way. Why was that important to you?
A: Pride, joy, celebration, and what I think you mean by “real way” are all the same thing. There is no Pride, joy, or celebration if we aren’t surviving. Pride is actually, I think, a reminder that we are always fighting. These things exist together for Queers, and they should! We have always celebrated who we are: when they say who we are is illegal, when they say who we are is an illness, when they say we are not equal, when they say who we are is a choice, when they say we should just die… somehow, we have and always will celebrate.
Q: When someone picks up a Tropi-Queen Smoothie this June, what do you hope they feel or take away from it?
A: I hope they enjoy it! It does taste really good, and I hope if they weren’t aware of G.L.I.T.S. and the profound life-changing work they do, that they do now, and that everyone should know the taste of sweet paradise. ❤️

This Pride, we’re proud to spotlight G.L.I.T.S., a Black trans-led organization providing direct services, advocacy, and emergency support for LGBTQIA+ communities impacted by housing insecurity, discrimination, incarceration, and poverty.
Founded by Ceyenne Doroshow, G.L.I.T.S. creates pathways to stability, self-determination, and long-term empowerment through housing assistance, reentry services, leadership development, asylum support, and community safety programs.
